Join us Sunday mornings at 9am & 10:45am

Arrival

Our services begin promptly at 9am and 10:45am (parking is available on the paved lot or on the grass lot). Upon arrival you will see our greeters who can assist you with a paper bulletin and seating if needed.  Our kids' and nursery building is adjacent to our main building; it is a short walk and signs are placed outside to guide you there. As we find our seats, we sing a song to prepare our hearts for the gathering, and then are updated on a few announcements for our fellowship.

Kids and Families

At King’s Cross, we believe that God has tasked parents to be the primary source of Biblical education for their children (Deut. 6:4-9). We also believe that families worshipping together on Sunday is beneficial for the whole family - it teaches our kids that they are not a sub-group in the church, but that they are also part of the church family. It also teaches children how to behave, and approach God rightly in worship. For the parents, it helps them grow in training their kids to sit still and to listen with their bibles open, even if they do not understand everything that is going on. For the rest of the congregation, having children in the service helps us all grow in flexibility, patience and understanding that church is not anyone’s private time with the Lord, it is a corporate gathering. All that to say, we love to have kids of all ages in our Sunday gathering!

We also see a benefit in having an age-based kids ministry - so both options are available at Kings Cross, and we give parents the discretion to either utilize our nursery/children’s ministry or keep their children with them in the main gathering. Families with babies up to age 3 can utilize our nursery, and children ages 4 years to 5th grade are invited to participate in our children’s ministry. Our children are taught through the whole bible, learning God’s big story of redemption through doctrinally solid Bible lessons, as well as participating in crafts and games together with their peers, led by trained and background-checked church members. We use a sign-in system to match parent with child, where each child and parent receive matching stickers. The kids’ building doors are secured at the start of service, and our security team regularly monitors the area in-between our main building and the kids’ building to ensure the safety of everyone.

Order of Service

Our gathering formally begins with a call to worship, then in a time of singing, prayers of praise and confession to God, an assurance of pardon, various Scripture readings, and a pastoral prayer for our community and the nations. We then take time to greet and welcome one another, and then open the Bible to study God's Word. Upon conclusion of the sermon we partake in communion (on the first Sunday of the month), and then close with a song of dedication and a benediction to commission us back into the world for God's glory and our community's good. The entire gathering is centered upon the Gospel and Word of God.

Music

The music we sing at King's Cross is a blend of old and new. We love doctrinally rich hymns and we enjoy singing new songs written for the church that are biblically faithful. Some of the ministries we pull new songs from are Sovereign Grace Music, Keith & Kristyn Getty, CityAlight, and Matt Boswell. Most of us who are comfortable with music from one particular era have discovered, while at King's Cross, that we have come to enjoy other songs we had not previously encountered. We strongly prefer congregational singing, which emphasizes the gathered body singing praise to God with one voice, over performed music, which tends to spotlight the abilities of some while encouraging passivity in the rest.

Sermons

Preaching at King's Cross Church is generally expositional, meaning we seek to declare the point of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last around 45-50 minutes and our sermon series typically alternate between studying a book of the Old and New Testaments, taught by our elders (or men being trained by the elders). All preaching is driven by the Gospel, the Bible’s main message of God saving sinners through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
